Vida Ghaffari, a multi award-winning actress, was born and raised in the Washington DC metropolitan area, the daughter of a NASA scientist and an artist. This unique blend of artistic and analytical upbringings had a profound impact on her development as a performer. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a major in Economics, a concession to her strict Persian father, and minors in theatre and communication, allowing her to nurture her artistic side.
During her time at the University of Maryland, College Park, Vida was actively involved in the school's avant-garde black box theatre, performing in numerous improv shows and participating in a few plays. After college, she began training with various acting coaches and completed the full improv program at the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade, founded by Amy Poehler and her colleagues.
Vida's professional acting career took off as she landed co-starring roles in popular TV shows such as The Mindy Project and Jimmy Kimmel Live, as well as starring in Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia. Her versatility as an actress has led to a wide range of projects, including feature films and TV shows.
One of her most notable roles was in the multi award-winning film Abeyance, directed by Harley Wallen, opposite an impressive ensemble cast. Vida played the cunning and powerful femme fatale scientist Nikita, earning her international recognition and praise.
Vida is also a frequent collaborator of filmmaker Dustin Ferguson, with whom she has worked on several projects. In the upcoming sci-fi thriller Robowoman, she stars alongside a stellar ensemble cast, playing the role of an educated medical researcher Hannah. She has also worked with Ferguson on Horndog's Beach Party, playing the role of Becky, and Nation's Fire, where she portrayed the pivotal role of school security guard Joan.
In addition to her work with Ferguson, Vida has appeared in Holy Terror, where she played the role of the possessed Hayley, earning her the nickname "Persian Linda Blair" from prominent journalist Maurice Dwayne Smith. She has also starred in Hybristophilia, playing the role of serious reporter Sabrina Sanchez, and recently shot Miranda Veil, where she plays the touching role of Alice Veil, a concerned mother with a mysterious past.
