Valérie Benguigui was a renowned French actress and theater director, born on July 8, 1961, in Oran, Algeria.
She pursued her passion for acting by taking courses at the prestigious Cours Florent and the National Chaillot Theatre School.
Benguigui's early film career began with a role in Francis Huster's On a volé Charlie Spencer in 1986.
Her most notable television role was in the popular series Avocats et associés, where she appeared from 2000 to 2005.
During this time, she also ventured into play production and direction.
In 2012, Benguigui's outstanding performance in the film What's in a Name? (Le Prénom) earned her a César Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Molière Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Benguigui was married to Eric Wapler, an actor and restaurant manager, whom she met during her studies at Cours Florent. The couple had two children together.
Tragically, Benguigui lost her battle with breast cancer on September 2, 2013, at the age of 52, in Paris. She had been fighting the disease for three years prior.
Her funeral took place at Montparnasse Cemetery.
