Tyler Hynes was born in Toronto, Canada. He is a multifaceted artist, credited as an accomplished actor, director, producer, editor, and writer.
He began his professional journey at the tender age of eight, participating in a 72-performance run of the musical stage production of "A Christmas Carol". This was followed by a cross-Canada tour of The Who's Rock Opera "Tommy", where he played the role of a 10-year-old Tommy.
As he transitioned to on-camera work, Tyler made his feature film debut in "Little Men" alongside Mariel Hemingway. He went on to star in various television and film productions alongside notable actors like Tim Roth, Andie MacDowell, James Franco, Sienna Miller, Henry Cavill, Elliot Page, Billy Bob Thornton, and more.
Tyler received nominations for "fan favorite" as a teenager, starring in the 24-episode TV series "Tales from the Never Ending Story" as Atreyu and "The Chosen One" in "Peter Benchley's Amazon" for 26 episodes.
He then delivered award-nominated performances in Disney's "The Other Me" and "Terrorized by Teens: The Jonathan Wamback Story", a real-life story of a young man bullied and beaten, which garnered major national media attention and launched anti-bullying town halls and a TV blitz across Canada.
As an adult, Tyler further honed his acting craft as a regular on TV series "Saving Hope", "The Firm", critically acclaimed police drama "19-2", and the Emmy-winning Lifetime series "Unreal". He also enjoyed guest-starring roles on NCIS, Flashpoint, Rookie Blue, Transporter, Star Trek: Discovery, and more, some of which earning award recognition.
Recently, his standout performance as Sgt. Reece in the WWII feature "Recon" has been praised by critics, showcasing his range in contrast to his roles as one of Hallmark Channel's top leading men, bringing a unique and refreshing approach to the genre.
Tyler has also expanded into directing, writing, and producing, with credits including the short films "Help Doug Recycle", a 40-minute documentary about a homeless man struggling with substance abuse, the dark coming-of-age drama "Firefly", and "AFK_", a proof-of-concept funded by BELL Media as part of a television pitch piece.
Upon the release of "AFK_" online, it earned praise with features on taste-maker websites like "short of the week" and others. With growing notoriety behind the camera, Tyler began receiving requests to helm music videos for multi-platinum and Grammy-winning artists, which he wrote, directed, produced, and edited, earning features on sites like Billboard and nominations in award shows like the "Much Music Video Awards".
Throughout his career, Tyler has demonstrated a remarkable diversity, moving seamlessly from a World War II drama to a unique hit comedy series, a romantic fan favorite, to his work behind the lens.
