Lu Chu-Kun, a native of Fukien, was born in December 1946, originally bearing the name Wang Chun-Yeung. In 1962, he made the significant decision to relocate to Hong Kong, where his journey towards stardom was about to unfold. Fast-forward to 1970, Lu successfully enrolled in Cathay's actor training program, adopting the stage-name Lu Chun during his tenure. This marked the beginning of his illustrious acting career, which would eventually take him to the forefront of the film industry.
As Cathay's doors closed, Lu ventured forth to Yangtze Film Company, where he made his screen debut in the film "My Millionaire Sister." He soon landed his first leading role in "Armour of God," a testament to his burgeoning talent.
However, it was in 1974 that Lu's career took a dramatic turn. He began to work behind the scenes, transforming his passion for filmmaking into a career. In 1979, he underwent a name change, adopting the moniker Lu Chun-Ku, and joined Shaw Brothers as a director. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, as he went on to direct a plethora of martial arts movies, some of which even featured him as the lead actor.
A testament to his dedication and perseverance, Lu Chu-Kun's legacy continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day, as evident from the Celestial DVD edition of "Return of the Bastard Swordsman."
