Todd Grant Kimsey was a renowned American actor, recognized for his versatility and range in a wide variety of supporting roles across both television and film. Born in the vibrant city of Athens, Georgia, he spent his formative years attending high school there before proceeding to further his education at Davidson College and Florida State University. Notably, during his time at Florida State, he served as an intern at the esteemed Burt Reynolds Theater, gaining valuable experience and insight into the world of professional theater.
Following his academic pursuits, Kimsey relocated to New York City, where he immersed himself in the city's thriving theater scene, appearing in numerous stage productions, including a traveling production of the iconic play, Biloxi Blues. His subsequent move to Los Angeles marked the beginning of a successful television career, with his first notable role coming in the popular medical drama, Doogie Howser, MD.
Throughout his career, Kimsey accumulated an impressive body of work, with over 50 television shows and movies to his credit. Some of his most notable roles include appearances in The Perfect Storm, Seinfeld, 24, and NCIS: Los Angeles. In his personal life, Kimsey was married to Lisa Kimsey and they had three sons, Jackson, Judah, and Kellen.
Tragically, Kimsey's life was cut short after a three-and-a-half-year battle with lymphoma, succumbing to complications from a stem cell transplant on September 16, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; their three sons, Jackson, Judah, and Kellen; his parents, Dr. William and Linda Kimsey; siblings, Terri Langford, Tracey Evans, and Dr. Troy Kimsey; and 13 nieces and nephews.
