Þorsteinn Bachmann, born on October 25, 1965, is a renowned Icelandic actor, widely recognized for his captivating portrayal of Móri in the critically acclaimed film, Life in a Fishbowl, which earned him an Edda Award in 2015.
Bachmann's early life was marked by a move from the Fossvogur area of Reykjavík to Breiðholt at the age of 10. His academic journey was initially challenging, with struggles to read and write, a situation that improved significantly after transferring schools to Breiðholt.
After graduating from the Icelandic Drama School in 1991, Bachmann embarked on a thriving career in theatre, working with esteemed groups in Reykjavík and Akureyri, where he also served as president for a few years. Throughout his illustrious career, he has conducted numerous acting courses and taught at both the Icelandic Drama School and the Icelandic Film School. Notably, in 2013, he collaborated with the National Theatre of Iceland.
Before every premiere, Bachmann adheres to a consistent pre-performance routine, which includes a visit to the gym, a swim, and a sauna session. This ritual, a lifelong habit, is an essential part of his preparation for every film or stage premiere.
