Suthep Pongam, a multifaceted Thai creative force, has made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry under his stage name Thep Pongam. As a comedian, actor, film director, and screenwriter, he has brought laughter and excitement to audiences through various projects.
One of his most notable roles was as the leader of a bumbling gang of hitmen in the film "Killer Tattoo". He also co-starred with Petchtai Wongkamlao, who was part of his comedy troupe at one point.
Thep's diverse repertoire includes playing a zombie slayer in "SARS Wars", an aged heavy metal rock star in "Rock Not Die", and an imposter doctor in "Dumber Heroes". Additionally, he lent his voice to the elderly mahout in the 2006 animated feature "Khan Kluay".
However, Suthep's personal life has faced challenges. In 2009, the Supreme Court of Justice of Thailand ruled him bankrupt, ordering his property to be placed under absolute receivership. This decision followed years of unpaid instalments for the 3,000,000-baht costs of five townhouses he purchased in Phatthaya. The court noted that Suthep's income, estimated to be 300,000-baht monthly, did not justify his refusal to disclose his monthly expenses, ultimately leading to the bankruptcy judgment.
