Srijit Mukherji, a renowned film director and screenwriter, was born on September 23, 1977. His professional journey began with a flourish, as his debut feature film, Autograph, released in 2010, garnered widespread critical acclaim and commercial success.
As his career progressed, Mukherji's impressive body of work continued to receive accolades. His fifth film, Jaatishwar, won a staggering four national awards at India's 61st National Film Awards in 2014, solidifying his reputation as a master filmmaker. The following year, his sixth film, Chotushkone, earned him two prestigious National Film Awards - Best Director and Best Original Screenplay - at India's 62nd National Film Awards.
Mukherji's remarkable talent and versatility were further showcased in his eighth film, Rajkahini, which was later remade in Hindi as Begum Jaan, starring the talented Vidya Balan, in 2017. His 2018 release, Ek Je Chhilo Raja, won the coveted 'Best Bengali Film' Award at India's National Film Awards, cementing his status as a leading figure in Bengali cinema.
