Socks Whitmore, a multifaceted artist, identifies as agender/gender non-conforming and has made a name for themselves as a talented singer, voice and stage actor, lyricist-composer, and writer.
In their early days as a vocalist, Socks performed with prestigious organizations such as the NAfME national honors choir and the Honors Performance Series, taking the stage at iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
As their career progressed, Socks co-created and debuted the lead role in their first full-length original musical, "We Are Here," which was selected for the New Voices Project hosted by New Musicals Inc. in North Hollywood. This accomplishment marked the beginning of a fruitful journey, as they went on to originate roles in multiple contemporary musicals, including Michael Shapiro's "The Bully Problem" and the immersive production "Finding Wonder."
In addition to their work in the musical theater world, Socks has also served as a dramaturge/gender consultant for several productions, bringing their unique perspective and expertise to the table.
One of Socks' most notable achievements is their role as the voice of Narwhal in the "Narwhal & Jelly" audiobook series by Penguin Random House, a testament to their impressive vocal range and versatility.
Socks holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performer-Composer from the California Institute of the Arts, with minors in Digital Arts and Creative Writing, a testament to their dedication to their craft and their ability to excel in multiple artistic disciplines.
