Shaparak "Shappi" Khorsandi, a renowned British comedian and author, hails from Iranian descent. Born to a family with a rich cultural heritage, her father, Hadi Khorsandi, is a celebrated Iranian political satirist and poet. Due to the Islamic Revolution, Shappi's family was forced to flee Iran when she was still a child, leaving behind their homeland and the comforts of their former life.
Years later, in January 2016, Shappi's remarkable career took a new turn as she was elected as the president of Humanists UK, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting humanism and secularism. Her dedication to the cause was evident as she continued to serve the organization, taking on the role of vice-president in 2019.
