Sergey Vitalyevich Bezrukov is a renowned Russian screen and stage actor, who has earned the prestigious title of People's Artist of Russia, and has also received the State Prize of the Russian Federation. He is currently affiliated with the esteemed Tabakov Studio, a theatre founded by the legendary Oleg Tabakov.
Born into a family of actors, Bezrukov is the son of Vitali Bezrukov, and he pursued his passion for acting by graduating from the renowned Moscow Art Theatre. He made his cinematic debut in the 1990s, and since then, he has played a diverse range of characters in numerous Russian films and mini-series. Some of his notable roles include Ivan Brilling in Azazel, Kappel in Admiral, Vladimir Vysotsky in Vysotsky Thank You for Being Alive, Sergei Yesenin in Yesenin, and most recently, Sumarokov in The Strict Routine Vacations.
In addition to his on-screen work, Bezrukov is also an accomplished voice actor, having lent his voice to the titular character Prince Vladimir in the animated film, and providing voices for the popular Russian television series Kukly. Throughout the 2000s, he has had the opportunity to portray several significant Russian historical figures, including the revered poet Alexander Pushkin, who is widely regarded as Russia's premier poet.
According to a survey conducted by ROMIR Monitoring, Bezrukov was voted as the favourite actor in Russia in 2005. However, in March 2014, he faced controversy when he signed a letter of support for President Vladimir Putin's military occupation of the Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula.
