Saara Chaudry is a multifaceted Canadian artist, exceling in various creative fields, including acting, character design, dance, and singing. Her career in television began with small roles in productions such as Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001),Combat Hospital (2011),Desperately Seeking Santa (2011),and Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight (2014).
As a young girl, Saara demonstrated a passion for creating character concepts, which later evolved into the concept for the popular show Ni Hao, Kai-Lan (2007) created by Karen Chau.
Saara made her theatrical debut as Little Cosette in the 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables at the Princess of Wales theatre, where she performed on opening night and at a special gala benefit with Colm Wilkinson. Her outstanding performance earned her a 2014 Broadway World Award for best female performer in a featured role, as well as nominations for a Young Artists Award and a Dora Award.
Following her theatre stint, Saara returned to television, taking on the role of Howie on Nickelodeon's Max & Shred (2014) and guest starring on PBS Kids Odd Squad (2014). She then completed filming for season 4 of Sinking Ship's Emmy and Canadian Screen nominated Dino Dana (2017),playing the role of Saara, Dana's older sister, and is set to film the Dino Dana Movie this summer.
Saara is currently filming Universal Kids/Hulu's new tween series Holly Hobbie (2018),where she portrays Amy, Holly's best friend. Her extensive work in animation has earned her a nomination for a 2017 Canadian Screen Award for her role as Clara in The Curse of Clara: A Holiday Tale (2015). She is also proud to be the voice of Parvana in the Oscar, Golden Globe, and Canadian Screen Award nominated feature film, The Breadwinner (2017),based on the novel by Deborah Ellis, for which she recently won the ACTRA award for best voice performance.
Saara is currently working on the animated series Charlie's Colorforms City (2019) and is thrilled to be the voice of Carmen in Let's Go Luna! (2018).
When not filming, Saara enjoys attending school, singing with her girl band Girl-Powr, and advocating for gender equality and girls' education.
