Throughout his illustrious career, Bailey was often cast in upper-class and tradition-bound roles, such as Mr. Justice Graves in Thames Television's Rumpole of the Bailey. However, he is most affectionately remembered for his captivating portrayal of Uncle Mort in the BBC's adaptation of Peter Tinniswood's stories about an extended Yorkshire family, which aired from 1975 to 1979 and is currently available on DVD.
