Roberta Shore, born on April 7, 1943, in Monterey Park, California, began her career at the tender age of ten, singing country western songs at supermarket openings with Tex Williams. Williams, impressed by her talent, invited her to join his weekly TV show from Knotts Berry Farm, where she adopted the stage name "Jymme Shore".
As a teenager, Shore gained recognition for her role as a snooty dating nemesis for Annette Funicello in several Disney productions. Walt Disney himself suggested she change her name to Roberta, as the name Jymme was often mistaken for a male. Shore's most notable roles include her appearances in the episodic series "Annette" (1958) and the feature film "The Shaggy Dog" (1959),where she played a rival to Annette Funicello for the affections of Tim Considine. She also performed the theme song for the movie.
Shore's career continued to flourish, with roles on various TV shows, including "The Mouseketeers", where she provided voices for animated projects and sang on the Disney label. She was also featured on the TV series "Father Knows Best", "The Bob Cummings Show", and "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", playing a school friend, a tomboyish teen, and one of Ricky Nelson's many girlfriends, respectively.
Shore's most notable recurring role was as "Betsy Garth" on the TV series "The Virginian" (1962) for its first three seasons. She also appeared in several "young love" films, including "A Summer Place" (1959),"Blue Denim" (1959),and "Because They're Young" (1960). However, despite her early success, Shore's career eventually stalled, and she left the limelight in 1965 to focus on raising her family.
Shore and her actor husband, Ron Frederickson, moved to Salt Lake City, where she became a disc jockey on a Utah radio station in the 1980s. Decades later, she was cast as Ishmael's wife in the movie "The Book of Mormon Movie, Volume 1: The Journey" (2003),alongside her husband, who played Ishmael. In recent years, Shore has worked as a manufacturer's rep for a furniture business.
