John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne, a renowned English singer-songwriter and occasional actor, has been active in the music industry for over four decades. As of December 2010, he has successfully sold over 100 million albums worldwide, solidifying his status as a music icon.
Osbourne rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the groundbreaking English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, a group that revolutionized the music scene with their distinctive, intentionally dark, and doom-inspired sound. This pioneering work led to the creation of the heavy metal genre, earning Osbourne the nickname "Godfather of Heavy Metal." During his time with Black Sabbath, Osbourne also gained the moniker "Prince of Darkness" due to the band's dark style of music.
Throughout his career, Osbourne has accumulated an impressive collection of over 15 tattoos, with the most recognizable being the letters "O-Z-Z-Y" across the knuckles of his left hand. Interestingly, this tattoo was his first, which he created himself as a teenager using a sewing needle and pencil lead.
In the early 2000s, Osbourne expanded his reach to a new medium by starring in his own reality show, The Osbournes, alongside his wife/manager Sharon and two of their three children, Kelly and Jack.
