Öykü Karayel was born in 1990 in Istanbul, Turkey, to a family that included her single twin brother, Ezgi. She graduated from Cemberlitas Girls High School and then went on to receive a short training at the Kenter Theater academy.
In 2007, Öykü entered the Theater Department of the University of Istanbul Conservatory, where she spent the next few years honing her craft. During her time at the Conservatory, she took part in a five-month exchange program in London, where she studied theater.
Öykü's early career was marked by her role as Ayse in the play "Güzel Seyler Bizim Tarafta", which was written and directed by Berkun Oya. The play premiered at the Theater Krek in 2010 and received critical acclaim, earning Öykü several awards including the "Efes Special Award" and the "Theater Critics Association Young Talent Award".
Öykü's breakthrough role came in 2011 when she was cast as a series regular in the Turkish drama series "Kuzey Güney". She played alongside a talented cast, including Kivanç Tatlitug, Bugra Gülsoy, Bade Isçil, Merve Bolugur, Mustafa Avkiran, Zerrin Tekindor, Hale Soygazi, and Kaan Tasaner.
In addition to her work on television, Öykü has also appeared in several films. One of her most notable roles was in the 2015 film "Bulanti", which tells the story of Ahmet, a man who must come to terms with the loss of his wife and son. Öykü played a key role in the film, which also starred Zeki Demirkubuz, Sebnem Hassanisoughi, and Öykü herself.
