Nikola was named after his great-grandfather, who held the esteemed position of protoiereus in the historic city of Mostar. Before he had even reached the age of 13, Nikola made his acting debut, taking on the role of the young Ivan in the 1980 film "Rad na određeno vreme". As he entered the 1980s, he continued to make a name for himself in the film industry, with notable roles in "Igmanski marš" (1983),the television series "Sivi Dom" (1986),and three sequels of the extremely popular film series Foolish Years, which cemented his status as one of the most renowned actors of the younger generation in the former Yugoslavia.
In 1992, Nikola starred in Srđan Dragojević's film "Mi nismo anđeli" (We're Not Angels),a role that remains one of his most memorable to date. He reprised his role in the 2005 sequel "Mi nismo anđeli 2".
Nikola is a devoted husband to Aleksandra Đurić, with whom he shares a loving relationship and three beautiful children. The couple is blessed with a daughter named Ana, born in 2008, as well as twin daughters who arrived in 2013.
In addition to his successful acting career, Nikola also ventured into directing with the 2016 film "Herd", marking his debut in this capacity.
