Biography

Natasha Straley is a multifaceted independent narrative film director, effortlessly transitioning between her bases in New York City, Texas, and Los Angeles. Her journey in the film industry began as an actor, with her first foray onto the other side of the camera dating back to 2010. Over the years, she has worked on various film productions, meticulously sifting through every department, until directing emerged as a natural progression in 2016.

Her body of work is characterized by a unique blend of comedic and dramatic narrative content, which delves into the darker aspects of human nature, skillfully exploring the intricate nuances of behaviors and relationships. Straley's driving force is subtle screenplays that push boundaries and examine the grey area between right and wrong.

Throughout her career, she has directed a plethora of short films, which have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim by screening at festivals across the country. Her most recent achievement includes the completion of the proof-of-concept short film, SIDESTEP, after being awarded a grant from the San Antonio Film Commission. This milestone was preceded by the Michelle Mower Female Filmmaker of the Year Award, which she received from the Austin Revolution Film Festival in 2018.

Straley's directing credits include a diverse range of films, such as the post-apocalyptic action film, THE RESISTANCE; the lonely romantic comedy, UP OR OUT; the comedic social commentary, CAULIFLOWER; and the delicately nuanced slice-of-life film, FINISHED.

In addition to her directing credits, she has also made significant contributions as a producer, with notable projects including PICKUP, starring Mandy Evans, Jim True-Frost, and Griffon Robert Faulkner, written by Jessica Blank, and directed by Jeremiah Kipp; and SOUND/VISION, starring Ari Rossen, directed by Jeremiah Kipp.

Straley's acting credits are equally impressive, with notable roles in THE BLACKLIST, starring James Spader and David Costabile on NBC; BRUNCH ON SUNDAYS; and THE LEFTOVERS.

Born in Washington D.C., Straley's early life was marked by a nomadic existence as a military kid, with her family moving across the world. She eventually settled in Texas, where she made it her home before relocating to New York in 2007. Currently, she divides her time between Los Angeles and San Antonio, Texas, as she works on completing her first feature film, SIDESTEP.
