Biography

Morganna's Journey: From a Young Age to Global Recognition

As a child, Morganna discovered her artistic talent and her gender identity. At just four years old, she began singing and became a soloist in her school's choir. She soon developed a strong sense of her feminine identity, which led her to put on makeup and emulate her favorite female TV stars. However, this caused shock and rejection from her family, who struggled to understand her gender identity.

Despite this, Morganna continued to pursue her passion for music, enrolling in the School of Music at the University of Guanajuato and later moving to Mexico City to study at the National Conservatory of Music. She eventually began collaborating with an opera company, where she started to define her identity and began her transition process.

This journey was not without its challenges, as Morganna faced a four-year struggle without family support. She underwent hormonal and psychological therapy before finally undergoing sex reassignment surgery in Thailand in 2012. The surgery was performed by renowned surgeon Burin Wangjiraniran and brought Morganna closer to living her ideal life.

Morganna's transition was documented in the film Made in Bangkok, which premiered worldwide in 2017 and received several accolades, including a nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the Mexican Film Academy. The film's success brought Morganna into the spotlight, and she went on to act in several projects, including the series Crónica de castas and the short film Oasis.

In 2017, Morganna released her debut album, Dos vidas en una, which showcased her incredible voice in a range of genres, from opera arias to pop ballads. She also published her autobiographical book, In the Right Body, and continued to perform around the world.

In 2018, Morganna participated in the reality show The Voice, Mexico, and made it to the semifinals on Anitta's team. She also lent her voice to the character of Blanca Evangelista in the Latin American dub of the Fox Premium series Pose.

Morganna's activism for the rights and visibility of trans women has led to her being recognized as one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico by Forbes in 2020. She has also worked as an activist for the United Nations and has participated in several films and television shows, including the HBO series Maid.

Throughout her journey, Morganna has faced numerous challenges, but she has continued to pursue her passion for music and her advocacy for trans rights. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination, and she continues to inspire and empower people around the world.
