When Morena was just seven years old, her family relocated to Greenwich Village, New York, as her father was transferred to Globo TV's headquarters in the United States, where he worked as an editor. She spent her formative years attending Public School 41 and New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, where she had the opportunity to learn alongside fellow actress Claire Danes.
Morena's academic pursuits continued at the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, before she entered the theater program at Juilliard.
