Molly Kathleen Ringwald, a multifaceted American talent, was born on February 18, 1968. She initially gained recognition as Molly in the NBC sitcom The Facts of Life, after a casting director discovered her impressive performance as an orphan in a stage production of the musical Annie.
Although she and other original cast members were let go when the show underwent network reworkings, Ringwald made her motion-picture debut as Miranda in the independent film Tempest, earning a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year.
