Mamoru Kanbe is a Japanese anime director and storyboard artist who has made a significant impact in the industry through his work on various television series and films. His illustrious career in animation began in the early 1980s, with a notable start as a production assistant on the iconic project, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, released in 1984.

Throughout his extensive career, Kanbe has demonstrated his versatility and expertise by directing episodes for several notable series, including Elfen Lied, which premiered in 2004, and The Promised Neverland, which debuted in 2019. His directorial debut was with Elfen Lied, where he took on the role of series director.
