Manorama, a legendary figure, was born Gopi Shantha to Kasi Clockudaiyar and Ramamitham on May 26th, 1943, in Mannargudi, a town situated in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. Due to the challenges posed by poverty, her family relocated to Pallathur, a nearby town, which is nestled near Karaikudi. Manorama embarked upon her illustrious acting career at the tender age of 12, commencing as a drama artist. During her early stage performances, she was rechristened as Manorama by the esteemed drama director, Thiruvengadam, and the accomplished harmonist, Thiayagarajan. As her career progressed, she continued to act in numerous plays, simultaneously showcasing her remarkable vocal talents as a playback singer on stage.
