He is a renowned Italian cabarettist, actor, and voice actor, widely recognized as a prominent figure in the new Neapolitan comedy movement, which gained popularity in the late 1970s thanks to the theatrical group La Smorfia. Alongside Massimo Troisi and Enzo Decaro, Arena has been instrumental in shaping this unique comedic style.
In his personal life, Arena has been married to Francesca Taviani, the daughter of renowned film director Vittorio Taviani, since 2006. The couple has a son, Leonardo, born in 2003.
