Laura Harris was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to public school teachers. She began her acting career at a young age, performing in CBC radio dramas.
Laura's early start in the industry was marked by a fascination with quirky, character-driven material. She gained recognition for her role as 1930's starlet "Daisy Adair" in the cult hit TV series Dead Like Me, which aired on Showtime from 2003 to 2004. The show featured a talented cast, including Mandy Patinkin and Callum Blue.
Laura's film credits include Robert Rodriguez's The Faculty, released in 1998, Christopher Guest's A Mighty Wind, which premiered in 2003, and Chris Smith's comedic thriller Severance, released in 2006. The latter starred Toby Stephens and Tim McInnerny alongside Laura.
In addition to her film and television work, Laura has also lent her voice to several projects. She voiced the character of "Kitty Pryde" in Joss Whedon's animated series Astonishing X-Men, which premiered in 2009. Her other television credits include appearances on Showtime's The Outer Limits, CTV's Defying Gravity, and the SAG-nominated series 24, which aired on FOX from 2001 to 2010 and starred Kiefer Sutherland.
When not acting, Laura is actively involved in the food justice community. She was awarded a full scholarship to study social-ecological systems design at the University of California, Berkeley. She splits her time between Los Angeles and the Bay Area.
