Laneikka is a queer writer and actor from Western Sydney, whose creative endeavors have garnered significant recognition and acclaim. At just seventeen years old, Laneikka wrote DEAD SKIN, a play that won the SA State Theatre Company's Young Playwrights Award, and was subsequently performed in Sydney and LA, earning publication by Australian plays.
Laneikka's subsequent play, FEMINAZI, premiered as part of Belvoir Theatre's Sydney World Pride Programming in 2023, further solidifying their reputation as a talented young playwright. In 2022, Laneikka was awarded the Diversity Entertainment Creative Mentorship, and their play DEAD SKIN was performed in LA, with plans to develop it into a feature film adaptation.
Laneikka's documentary, "The Real Meaning of Pleasure," received development funding from Screen Australia and AIDC in 2023, a testament to their growing influence in the industry. Additionally, Laneikka created THE MONOLOGUE COLLECTIVE, a platform where teenagers write monologues for their peers to perform for the HSC, which enjoyed sold-out seasons and earned a nomination for Best Production for Young People at the Sydney Theatre Awards in 2023.
As an actor, Laneikka is set to lead two feature films, PUZZLE BOX, a horror feature, and SALT ALONG THE TONGUE, a psychological thriller, both scheduled for release in 2024. Throughout their body of work, Laneikka's focus remains on amplifying the voices and experiences of young, queer individuals, making them a trailblazing figure in the entertainment industry.
