Koji Shiraishi, a Japanese film director, hails from Fukuoka, Japan, where he spent his formative years. Following his academic pursuits at Kyushu Sangyo University, Shiraishi earned a degree in film making and subsequently joined the film industry as an assistant director, collaborating on notable projects such as Gakuryū Ishii's August in the Water and Shinobu Yaguchi's WATER BOYS.
Shiraishi has often cited Gakuryū Ishii as his favorite Japanese director, with Ishii's 1980 film Crazy Thunder Road holding a special place in his heart. His admiration for international filmmakers extends to John Carpenter, Brian De Palma, Abbas Kiarostami, and Sam Raimi, while he has also expressed a fondness for a range of films, including the original Dawn of the Dead (1978),The Evil Dead (1981),Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987),The Thing (1982),and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).
