Kelly Younger is a renowned screenwriter and playwright with a prolific career in both mediums. His work has been staged off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally, showcasing his versatility and creativity.
For the past two years, Younger has been developing and writing a forthcoming Disney Animation Feature film, in addition to his role as a Story Consultant for the studio. He has been a member of the Disney Animation Story Trust since 2016, working on various projects, including Moana, Frozen 2, Wreck-It Ralph 2, and the live-action adaptations of Tinkerbell and Aladdin.
Younger has also collaborated with Pixar Animation on Cars 3, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, and other forthcoming films as a participant in the Pixar Animation Brain Trust. His impressive resume also includes co-writing the hit comedy Kalamazoo with Michelle Kholos Brooks, which was published by Dramatists Play Service in 2016 and won the Riva Shriver Comedy Award.
Some of his notable theater projects include Banished Children of Eve, which was staged off-Broadway, and Ink, which was a finalist for the Joanne Woodward/Paul Newman Drama Award. His play Tender was nominated for the Best New Play IRNE award and was part of Manhattan Theatre Club's "7@7" series, directed by Lynne Meadow and starring David Harbour.
Younger's short play, Mandate, won the 39th Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival and has been produced in various locations, including Dubai. His other short plays include Let's Get Physical, which has been performed in Hollywood, Miami, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Best Lei'd Plans, which has been staged in Hollywood, Barrington MA, and Miami.
Younger is currently developing a feature film with Josephson Entertainment, having previously worked with Mandeville Films, Gil Netter Productions, DreamWorks Animation, Disney Channel, and individual projects with Robert Lawrence, Jon Turtletaub, and Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning. He is also a Story Consultant for Illumination Animation Studios.
Younger is managed by Washington Square Arts and Film in New York and represented by CAA in Los Angeles and New York. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he earned his MA in Classics at Loyola University Chicago and his PhD in Drama Studies from University College Dublin in Ireland.
In addition to his writing and consulting work, Younger teaches courses in Dramatic Literature, Play Writing, and a popular seminar on Fairy Tales at Loyola Marymount University.
