Katherine Hughes, a multifaceted creative force, hails from New York but has since made Los Angeles her home. Over the past decade, she has honed her craft as an actress on various film sets, absorbing valuable lessons from an impressive array of mentors who have not only guided her but also inspired her own burgeoning talents behind the camera.
Hughes' early work, the short film Yellow Belt Fury, garnered significant recognition when it was featured on Short of the Week in late 2021, subsequently opening doors to a plethora of exciting opportunities as an emerging director. These include securing financing for upcoming projects, landing writing assignments with major studios, and securing a development deal for her debut feature.
Currently, Hughes is furthering her education by studying gender and film at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her creative output is heavily influenced by the dynamic energy and world-building of acclaimed director Edgar Wright, as well as the dark humor and feminine gore characteristic of writers like Diablo Cody.
Hughes is resolute in her pursuit of directing high-concept films and episodic television, while also seeking to collaborate with established brands and artists.
