Júlíus Kemp, a renowned Icelandic film director and producer, was born on December 2, 1967. Throughout his illustrious career, he has established himself as a skilled director of music videos, earning numerous awards and accolades.
One of his most notable achievements was the selection of his film, Blossi/810551, as the Icelandic entry for the 1998 Academy Awards in November 1997. The following year, he created the short film The Happy End, which was showcased in competition at the prestigious Toronto International Short Film Festival in 1998.
In 2000, Kemp produced and directed the box office hit, The Icelandic Dream, which garnered four Edda Award nominations, including Best Picture. The film was also selected for the Best Nordic Film category at the Gothenburg Film Festival in 2001 and was included in the official selections of several prominent film festivals, including Edinburgh, Toronto, and Pusan.
In 2002, Kemp collaborated with Icelandic Dream director Robert I. Douglas to release the film A Man Like Me, starring Icelandic comedian Jon Gnarr and Hong Kong actress and pop singer Stephanie Che.
