Joyce Chopra is a renowned American director and writer, whose impressive body of work comprises a diverse range of feature films and television productions. Prior to embarking on her illustrious career, Chopra received her academic foundation from Brandeis University, located in the charming town of Waltham, Massachusetts.
Throughout her life, Chopra has been blessed with a loving partnership, having been married to the talented American stage and screenwriter, Tom Cole. Unfortunately, Tom's life was tragically cut short on February 23, 2009. Despite this personal loss, Chopra's remarkable career has continued to flourish, with her debut narrative feature-length film, Smooth Talk, released in 1985, garnering widespread acclaim. This critically acclaimed film won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Director and the Grand Jury Prize at the 1985 Sundance Film Festival.
