John Ward's journey into the entertainment industry began at the tender age of 12, when his younger sister Jennifer was selected as the photo double and stand-in for Drew Barrymore in the 1984 film adaptation of Stephen King's novel "Firestarter", which was shot in his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina.
This initial exposure to the world of acting sparked a passion within John, leading him to pursue various small roles throughout his career. Years later, in 1998, he made his directorial debut with the film "Enchanted", which he also wrote, produced, and starred in. The film went on to achieve cult status and continues to be broadcast to this day.
Following the success of "Enchanted", John continued to write and direct feature films, with a total of 11 credits to his name. In 2013, he wrote, produced, and directed the film "Heart of the Country", which was based on the 2012 novel of the same name that he also authored.
In addition to his work in the film industry, John served as the President of Bay Ridge Films, Inc. Tragically, John Ward passed away on February 16, 2024, in Newport Beach, California, due to complications from a rare plasma cell disorder.
