Joseph Hyung-min Son, a South Korean-born American individual, has led a multifaceted life marked by both artistic pursuits and a tumultuous criminal history.
Born on November 22, 1970, Son initially gained recognition as an actor, appearing in the 1997 film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. He also ventured into the realm of combat sports, participating in notable organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship and K-1 Kickboxing.
However, Son's life took a drastic turn in 2008 when he was apprehended and charged with forcible rape, kidnapping, and torture in connection to a 1990 cold case. DNA evidence linked him to the crime, and an accomplice was also convicted.
Due to the statute of limitations, some charges were dropped, but Son was ultimately found guilty of torture and sentenced to seven years to life in prison in California. His criminal history did not end there, as he was later convicted of beating his cell mate to death while incarcerated.
The additional 27-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter added to his overall sentence, resulting in a lengthy imprisonment.
