J.J. Johnson is the mastermind behind the creative endeavors of Sinking Ship Entertainment, overseeing every stage of the production process from development and production to writing and directing.
In 2002, J.J. made a groundbreaking discovery that would change the course of his career - he found Daniel Cook. This serendipitous encounter led to the creation, direction, writing, and co-production of the beloved series This is Daniel Cook.
Since then, J.J. has been instrumental in bringing some of Canada's most popular children's programs to life, including This is Emily Yeung, Are we there yet?: World Adventure, Roll Play, and the Shaw Rocket Prize-winning live-action/CGI series Dino Dan.
Throughout his illustrious career, J.J. has directed an impressive 75 hours of children's programming, which has been broadcast in over 150 countries around the world. His outstanding contributions to the world of children's television have not gone unnoticed, with the Toronto Star recognizing him as one of Canada's top children's television producers and Playback listing him as one of the Top 10 to Watch in 2006.
In addition to his many accomplishments, J.J. is also dedicated to giving back to the industry that has given him so much. He sits on the board as co-president of the Youth Media Alliance, a testament to his commitment to nurturing the next generation of creators and innovators.
