Li Lian Jie, professionally known as Jet Li, is a multifaceted Chinese individual born on April 26, 1963, in Beijing, China, who has since obtained Singapore citizenship.
As a young martial artist, Li underwent three years of rigorous training under the guidance of Wu Bin, ultimately claiming his first national championship for the Beijing Wushu Team. Following his retirement from competitive wushu at the age of 17, Li transitioned to acting, making his film debut in the critically acclaimed Shaolin Temple (1982).
Li's remarkable acting career in China culminated in the Once Upon A Time In China series, where he portrayed the legendary figure Wong Fei-hung. His Hollywood debut was as a villain in Lethal Weapon 4 (1998),with his first leading role arriving in Romeo Must Die (2000).
Li has since become a prominent figure in Hollywood action films, starring alongside Jackie Chan in The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) and as the title character villain in The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008) opposite Brendan Fraser. In recent years, he has appeared in the 2010 film The Expendables.
