Jason Cermak, the younger of two children, grew up in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada, where he enthusiastically pursued every sport and academic extracurricular activity available in the small rural town. This enthusiasm continued as he attended the University of Calgary, where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree and focused his athletic endeavors on track and field, specifically decathlon, for a 12-year career.
Jason's entry into the acting world began in 2000, following a chance encounter with Matt Damon on the set of "The Bourne Identity" in Prague, where he was living at the time. This experience inspired him to seek out an agent and begin training as a professional film and television actor. With a practical approach, Jason used his commerce degree to secure a steady income, gradually shifting his focus towards acting full-time.
Upon graduating from the University of Calgary in 2000, Jason took on roles as a university instructor and IT consultant for Deloitte, while simultaneously pursuing film and television opportunities. In 2006, while living in Melbourne, Australia, Jason made the bold decision to audition for the Canadian First World War film Passchendaele, resigning from his job and returning to Canada.
Upon his return, Jason discovered he had secured a role in the film and subsequently dedicated himself to acting full-time, while continuing to operate an IT consulting company on the side.
