James Holmes, a comedy actor born in 1965, hails from the West Midlands region. He is most notably recognized for his portrayal of Clive in the 2009 BBC sitcom Miranda.
Holmes began his training at The Poor School in London, subsequently participating in a Youth Training Scheme, where he worked in the props department at the Belgrade.
Throughout his illustrious career, Holmes has appeared in over 40 television and theatre productions since 1984. His extensive repertoire includes various off-West End and regional shows, such as a notable performance as Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest for the New Players Theatre, and various roles in Catherine Tate's theatre comedy show.
Holmes has also made significant appearances in television, including a helpful Citizen's Advice volunteer in two episodes of the TV series Psychoville, and a performance as food critic Floyd Ackerman in Dani's House.
Furthermore, Holmes has lent his talents to radio, playing the role of Roy Silver alongside Penelope Keith in the BBC Radio 4 adaptation of M C Beaton's Agatha Raisin series. He has also made appearances in The Bill in 2006 and played Thomas Snell in the BBC's 2019 ghost story Martin's Close.
