John Anthony White, born July 9, 1975, is a multifaceted American artist, renowned as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the iconic duo the White Stripes.
As a musician, White has garnered widespread acclaim, boasting an impressive collection of 12 Grammy Awards and having three of his solo albums reach number one on the Billboard charts.
The White Stripes, founded in 1997 alongside fellow Detroit native and then-wife Meg White, catapulted to international fame with their 2001 breakthrough album White Blood Cells, featuring the hit single and music video "Fell in Love with a Girl".
In 2005, White co-founded the Raconteurs with Brendan Benson, and in 2009, he founded the Dead Weather with Alison Mosshart of the Kills.
In 2008, White collaborated with Alicia Keys on the James Bond theme song "Another Way to Die" for the film Quantum of Solace, making them the only duet to perform a Bond song.
In addition to his music career, White has also explored acting, appearing in the 2003 film Cold Mountain as Georgia and performing five songs for the soundtrack.
He also made appearances in the 2003 Jim Jarmusch film Coffee and Cigarettes, alongside Meg, in the segment "Jack Shows Meg His Tesla Coil", and played Elvis Presley in the 2007 satire Walk Hard.
In June 2017, White featured in the award-winning documentary film The American Epic Sessions and served as an executive producer of the film.
