Isabella Jenny Karolina Eklöf, a Swedish film director and screenwriter, was born on 10 February 1978 in Östra Ryd. With a passion for storytelling, she pursued her educational journey at the National Film School of Denmark, where she honed her skills and laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
Eklöf's early career saw her serving as a "runner" on the 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the film industry. Her subsequent collaboration with director Ali Abbasi on the 2018 Swedish film Border was a significant milestone in her career. The film, an expansion of John Ajvide Lindqvist's short story, earned the trio a nomination for the Guldbagge Award for Best Screenplay and the European Film Award for Best Screenwriter.
Eklöf's creative talents extend beyond screenwriting, as she also made her directorial debut with the 2018 Danish film Holiday. This critically acclaimed film earned her the New Wave Best Picture and New Wave Best Director awards at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. Moreover, Holiday went on to win four prestigious Bodil Awards, including the coveted Best Danish Film award.
