Isaac Marion, born on December 30, 1981, is an American writer, best known for his bestselling novel Warm Bodies, a zombie romance that has gained widespread critical acclaim.
Prior to the success of Warm Bodies, Marion had self-published three other novels, showcasing his writing talent at a young age. The novel was published by Atria Books on October 14, 2010, and received praise from notable publications such as The Guardian, The Seattle Times, and Paste.
The success of Warm Bodies led to the acquisition of its film rights by Summit Entertainment, which was adapted into a movie directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, and John Malkovich. The movie was released on February 1, 2013, and went on to generate over 100 million dollars in international box office revenue.
Marion has also written a prequel novella, The New Hunger, which was published as an eBook on January 28, 2013. The Warm Bodies series is planned to be a four-book series, with the first true sequel, The Burning World, released on February 7, 2017. To promote the release, Marion co-directed a book trailer with Micah Knapp, which premiered on Hypable.
In addition to his literary work, Marion has also ventured into music, releasing a solo album, Dead Children, in 2007, and a concept album, Look Down, with his electronic/indie rock duo, The Tallest Building in the World, in 2005. Both albums are available for download on Bandcamp.
Marion is a multi-talented individual, also working as a photographer and painter. According to his Simon & Schuster biography, he decided to forgo college in favor of direct experience, beginning his writing career while still in high school and self-publishing three novels before Warm Bodies.
