Hennie Smit, a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, was born on May 19th in Malmesbury. His journey in the world of music and stage began at Jongens High School in Paarl, where he discovered his passion for the performing arts.
As he progressed, Hennie pursued further education, studying at 'Landbou Tegniese Voorligter' in Pretoria in 1962 and later at the 'Goudstadse Onderwys Kollege' in 1965, specializing in Drama.
Hennie's professional career took off in 1967 when he made his film debut in Pretoria O Pretoria and Die Rebel. This marked the beginning of a prolific career, with a total of 32 films and TV series to his credit, including notable titles such as Nommer Asseblief, Willem, Die Swartkat, and many more.
In addition to his work in film and television, Hennie also ventured into children's records, creating beloved albums like Sprokiesland, Hendrik die Hoenderhaan, and Swartkat. He had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed artists such as Sonja Heroldt, Bles Bridges, and André Schwartz.
In 1992, Hennie appeared in the popular TV series Egoli, playing the iconic role of Bertie, which was specifically created for him. After dedicating 32 years to the entertainment industry, Hennie launched his CD, 'Uiteindelik', a testament to his enduring talent.
