Person biography:
Hans-Jochen Wagner was born in December 1968 in Tübingen as the middle of three brothers. His family was rooted in teaching, and his mother worked as an anthroposophical art therapist. Wagner grew up in Reutlingen, where he attended the Waldorf school. He initially studied teaching in Tübingen, specializing in mathematics and history, while working part-time as a technician and assistant director at the Reutlingen theater Die Tonne.
Wagner then pursued a degree in cultural education in Hildesheim and later completed his acting training at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin from 1994 to 1997. He further honed his skills by taking a film acting course at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg.
In 1997, Wagner began his professional acting career as an engaged actor at the Burgtheater in Vienna. He made his camera debut in 1998 in the short film "Zita - Stories about Deadly Sins." His early work also included television films, such as "Die Rückkehr" (The Return) in 2002, and feature films, like "Sie haben Knut" (They Have Knut) in 2003.
Throughout his career, Wagner has appeared in numerous "Tatort" episodes, both as a guest star and in the role of Detective Friedemann Berg in the Black Forest "Tatort" of SWR, alongside Eva Löbau, since 2017. Additionally, he played Detective Chief Inspector Hendrik Verhoeven in nine episodes of the ZDF crime series "Kommissarin Heller" from 2013 to 2021.
