Xiong Yaohua, also famously known by his pen name Gu Long, was a multifaceted Taiwanese creative genius, whose remarkable career spanned across various artistic mediums. Born on 7th June 1938, Xiong's life was marked by an unwavering passion for storytelling, which would eventually lead him to become a renowned novelist, screenwriter, film producer, and director.
With a solid educational foundation from Cheng Kung Senior High School and Tamkang University, Xiong's creative pursuits were fueled by his natural talent and dedication. He is, however, most celebrated for his impressive body of work within the wuxia genre, which includes the iconic Juedai Shuangjiao, Xiaoli Feidao Series, Chu Liuxiang Series, Lu Xiaofeng Series, and The Eleventh Son.
These captivating tales have been adapted into films and television series on numerous occasions, a testament to their enduring popularity and Xiong's mastery of the craft. As his fame grew, he ventured into film production, establishing his own studio, Bao Sian, in the 1980s, to bring his beloved works to life on the big screen.
