Biography

Jennifer Ten, a renowned Chinese director, screenwriter, and producer, was born in the Province of Qingdao, Shandong, China in January 1939. She began her illustrious career in the world of arts by graduating from the drama department of Lanzhou Institute of Arts in 1962.

Throughout her professional journey, Ten took on various roles, including membership in the Henan Provincial Drama Troupe, acting for the Guangxi Drama Troupe, trainee status at the Beijing Film Academy, and creator positions at the Guangxi Cultural Bureau and playwright roles at the China Youth Art Theatre.

For several years, she dedicated herself to crafting scripts for various drama plays in China, with some of her work being adapted into films. In 2011, Ten made her feature film directorial debut with "Love on a Leash" for the Chinese-American company Fenix Pictures, a straight-to-DVD fantasy movie that has since become a cult classic.

Two years later, she returned to her homeland to write and direct "Forbidden Kiss," a period romance drama that explores the cultural clash between Western and Asian cultures.
