Ben Best was a multifaceted American individual who pursued a career in the entertainment industry as an actor, writer, musician, and producer.
He attended the prestigious University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he had the opportunity to collaborate with frequent creative partners Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and David Gordon Green.
In addition to his work as an actor, Best co-created the popular comedy series Eastbound & Down with McBride and Hill, which aired on HBO for four seasons from 2009 to 2013. During this time, he appeared in eight episodes of the show as Clegg, a local bartender and longtime friend of the main character Kenny.
Best also co-wrote and co-starred with McBride and Hill in the cult indie film The Foot Fist Way, directed by Hill. Furthermore, he co-wrote the 2011 period fantasy comedy Your Highness, which starred McBride, James Franco, and Natalie Portman, and was directed by Green. Unfortunately, this marked the end of Best's collaborations with McBride.
Throughout his career, Best had a diverse range of acting credits, including roles in Superbad, What Happens in Vegas, Observe and Report, and Land of the Lost.
