Duane Whitaker is an American actor, born on June 23, 1959. He is widely recognized for his captivating portrayal of Maynard, the sadistic pawn shop owner, in Quentin Tarantino's 1994 cult classic film Pulp Fiction.
In addition to his iconic role in Pulp Fiction, Whitaker has written and acted in numerous other projects. He penned and starred in the title role of Eddie Presley, a film based on his own successful stage play. Whitaker also wrote, directed, and appeared in the films Together and Alone.
Throughout his career, Whitaker has demonstrated his versatility as an actor by taking on a wide range of roles. Some of his most notable performances include:
* A racist cop in the horror anthology film Tales from the Hood
* The bouncer Roadrash in the cult classic Hobgoblins
* Boss Man in the horror film Feast
* The Sheriff in the horror film Trailer Park of Terror
* Luther in the film From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, which he also co-wrote
* Buddy in the film Dead Letters
* Winslow in the film Broke Sky
* Mickey in the film Cordoba Nights
* Dr. Bankhead in the film The Devil's Rejects
Most recently, Whitaker has appeared in the feature films Albino Farm and Dozers, as well as on TV in the Cold Case episode "The Brush Man". He has also written numerous screenplays, including "Stripteaser".
On March 31, 2010, the American Cinematheque hosted a screening of Eddie Presley and Together and Alone at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.
