Denny Miller's life began on April 25, 1934, in Bloomington, Indiana. His family would eventually settle in Los Angeles, a city that would play a significant role in his future success. As a towering figure at 6'4", Miller excelled as the star player of UCLA's basketball team during his college years. He went on to earn a degree in physical education from the prestigious university.
After serving in the Army, Miller's life took an unexpected turn. In 1958, he was discovered by a talent agent while working a summer job, and subsequently signed a multi-year contract with MGM. This marked the beginning of his film career, which would eventually lead to his first starring role in Tarzan, the Ape Man, released by MGM in 1959.
Although Miller's film career never reached the heights of success he may have hoped for, he remained a prolific television presence. He made numerous guest appearances on popular shows such as Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, Wonder Woman, and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, to name just a few.
In addition to his television work, Miller was also recognizable to many as the Gorton's fisherman, a role he played until 2005. Tragically, Miller's life was cut short when he passed away on September 9, 2014, at the age of 80, following a lengthy battle with ALS.
