Chris earned his Master of Fine Arts degree with Honors in directing from Columbia University's esteemed Graduate Film Division, where his exceptional academic achievements earned him a full Departmental Research Assistant fellowship.
As a top student, Chris was granted this prestigious award, demonstrating his outstanding skills and dedication to his craft. In addition to his academic pursuits, Chris also served as a teaching assistant at Columbia University, where he taught weekly classes to undergraduate students, sharing his knowledge and expertise in film history, theory, and craft.
Chris was born in Kisumu, Kenya, and spent a significant portion of his childhood abroad. His diverse upbringing has undoubtedly influenced his unique perspective and creative vision.
Before pursuing his passion for filmmaking, Chris worked as a rough carpenter, honing his manual skills and developing a strong work ethic. He also spent nine summer seasons as a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska's Bering Sea, where he faced the challenges of the rugged wilderness and developed a deep respect for the natural world.
Today, Chris is a fluent Spanish speaker and resides in Brooklyn, New York, where he continues to cultivate his artistic talents and explore new creative endeavors.
