Christian Volckman, a graduate of the esteemed Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques in Paris, is a multifaceted artist, boasting expertise in various creative fields, including painting, graphic design, photography, authorship, and production.
Notably, he is widely recognized for his groundbreaking motion capture animation effort, Renaissance, which premiered internationally in 2006 and garnered mixed reviews from film critics. This cinematic achievement was awarded the Feature Film Award at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2006, a testament to its innovative and artistic merit. Despite receiving widespread acclaim, Renaissance struggled to find commercial success in America and Europe, failing to resonate with audiences.
Beyond his work on Renaissance, Volckman has also explored the realm of short films, including the acclaimed Le cobaye, which earned the prestigious Prix du Jury at Annecy in 1995. This accomplishment is only one of many accolades Volckman has received throughout his career, with his films being showcased at nearly 100 festivals and garnering over 30 prizes, including two awards for sound.
In 2008, Volckman collaborated with visual artist Raphael Thierry to form the artistic duo ©®, which has given rise to a series of thematic films and exhibitions under the banner of THEFLOW.
