Christian Dannemann Eriksen is a Danish professional footballer who has made a name for himself as a midfielder with exceptional vision, technique, passing, and free kick ability. He currently plays for Manchester United in the Premier League and the Denmark national team.
Eriksen began his senior club career at the tender age of 18 in 2010, joining Ajax where he went on to win three Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup. His impressive performances caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur, who signed him in 2013 for a transfer worth £11 million (€12.45 million). During his time at Spurs, Eriksen was twice named the club's Player of the Year, earned a spot in the 2017-2018 PFA Team of the Year, and even reached the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final.
In 2020, Eriksen made the move to Inter Milan for a transfer worth €19.7 million (£16.9 million),where he won a Serie A title before the mutual termination of his contract in 2021. He then returned to the Premier League with a move to Brentford in 2022.
On the international stage, Eriksen made his senior debut for Denmark in 2010 at the age of 18 and has since earned over 110 caps, including appearances in four major tournaments. He was also the youngest player at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Eriksen is Denmark's fifth-highest all-time goalscorer and has been named Danish Football Player of the Year a record five times.
However, Eriksen's career was put on hold in 2021 when he collapsed on the pitch during a UEFA Euro 2020 match due to a cardiac arrest caused by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). He received cardiopulmonary resuscitation and was later fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator. After an eight-month hiatus, Eriksen made a remarkable return to football, eventually joining Manchester United.
